‘River City’ has been a nickname floating around the cultural zeitgeist of the Texas Capitol for decades, the Colorado River clearly an important natural and cultural landmark for the great city of Austin. However, the river has undergone extensive and concerning changes over the past several decades causing radical harm to not only the body of water, but the residents as well. Harmful Zebra Mussels and Life Threatening Toxic Algae now all reside within, and pose damage to, the famous Austin landmark. This Short Form Documentary explores these environmental issues by retrospectively looking at the river’s past, present, and near future, along with examining the close relationships shared by long time residents of the area.
